Hispanic Heritage Month

“Latinos: Driving Prosperity, Power, and Progress in America”

The theme of this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 through October 15) is more than a marketing slogan for Latinos LEAD. Since 2017, we have pursued programs that drive progress in how Latinos exercise power at organizations that promote prosperous Latino families. The path to measurable change in this field is a fulfilling, yet formidable, endeavor.

We are determined to persist in our work amid the latest societal and political crosscurrents, as ethnic inclusion initiatives are brazenly disparaged. Latinos LEAD launched its mission several years before the George Floyd murder, social upheaval, and other civil rights crises that concentrated the national focus on diversity and inclusion.

Motivated by the sobering results of Boards Count!, our national review of Latino representation in nonprofit governance, Latinos LEAD and our many partners take seriously the heritage–and the potential–of America’s 62 million Latinos.
