Deputy Director

Position Summary:

A rare opportunity has opened for a leader who is passionate about driving measurable and lasting change in the nation’s nonprofit leadership structure.  Latinos for Leadership Excellence And Diversity (Latinos LEAD) was founded in 2017 and has demonstrated the impact of its theory of change by placing more than two dozen Latinas and Latinos on nonprofit boards since 2022.  Through major private foundation multi-year grants, Latinos LEAD is ideally positioned to expand and extend its proven nonprofit governance diversity programs to major cities of the western United States.

We encourage inquiries, nominations, and applications from seasoned generalists to accept the challenge of sustaining and expanding our core purpose: Place talented Latinos on the boards of thriving organizations.

The board of Latinos LEAD sees the newly created Deputy Director role as a crucial component in its succession plan for the organization’s founder and executive director.  Motivated to advance authentic ethnic diversity in nonprofit leadership, the successful candidate will be a positive and enthusiastic self-disciplined professional, well-organized administrator, resourceful program leader, and a tactful strategic collaborator.

We have essentially created a market; our Deputy Director should find this entrepreneurial environment to be exciting, motivating, and challenging.  This is a leadership role for a fearless and determined executive.

While there is no single ideal set of qualifications and credentials, applicants and nominees should present a strong track record of progressively greater responsibilities in the private or nonprofit sectors, marketing/sales/business development accomplishments, and must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills (this is a firm requirement). Strong candidates may have experience in a wide variety of professional fields.  A bachelor of arts in business, marketing, communications, or related major is required; a graduate degree or equivalent in business management, organization development, or nonprofit management is preferred.
