Mark Soto was appointed to the board of Partners for Children South L.A. in September 2023. Mark is a Deputy City Attorney with the Public Rights Branch of the Office of the Los Angeles City Attorney. In this role, Mark brings civil law enforcement actions against businesses and individuals.

Deborah Freeland was elected to the Filoli board of directors in November 2023. She is an attorney, a scientist, and an academic with a varied career that includes teaching, research, and practice in fields ranging from environmental science and policy, to intellectual property, to immunology, to women’s studies, to legal ethics.

Guillermo Viveros was elected to the Filoli board of directors in September 2023. Guillermo is a senior finance leader with experience in leading global finance and treasury teams to establish and execute their vision and strategies. He is passionate about strengthening financial and operational processes.
Since 2017, we have pursued programs that drive progress in how Latinos exercise power at organizations that promote prosperous Latino families.
Karim is a Gas Operations Supervisor for Downey Base at SoCalGas. He has volunteered with the Red Cross, Special Olympics, Friends of the Los Angeles River, and many other small nonprofits to help improve his communities. Karim holds a BA from Cal Poly Pomona and is completing his MA from Arizona State University.

Marina Lorraine Ramirez was
appointed to the governing board of META in June 2022. Marina is a Senior Associate Attorney for Alvarez-Glasman and Colvin, where she represents school districts, cities, police departments, and special districts with a focus on labor and employment, and governance and leadership.
