Paola Alvarez joined the board of Latinos LEAD in April 2022. Paola is the Vice President, Human Resources West Region at Hines, a privately owned global real estate investment, development and management firm, founded in 1957, with a presence in 285 cities in 28 countries and $90.3 billion of investment assets under management and more than 114.2 million square feet of assets for which Hines provides third-party property-level services.
Paola previously served as Vice President of Human Resources for Reyes Beer Division West Reyes. Paola has worked in the Human Resources field for more than 20 years for companies like Marriott International, Inc., The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, LLC and Montage Hotels and Resorts. Paola also worked in the aviation and aerospace industry with Esterline Technologies as a Director of Human Resources.
Paola holds a Master of Science degree from Virginia Tech in Adult Learning and Human Resources Development, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Human Resources Management from The George Washington University. She also has a Spanish/English translation certificate from the Foreign Language Department at George Mason University. In addition, Paola holds several certifications: Senior Professional HR, California, Executive Coach Certification and a Professional Certified Coach Credential (PCC) from the International Coach Federation. Paola is a Human Resources Instructor for UCLA Extension and an Adjunct Human Resources Professor at Claremont Graduate University. Paola has served as Chair for the Professionals in Human Resources in Pasadena.
Paola was raised in Central America, Europe and in different cities in the US. Her husband and two children relocated to Southern California in 2006 from the Washington DC area, where they lived for 16 years. She enjoys traveling, Latin music, long walks and trying new restaurants.
Latinos LEAD promotes more inclusive and effective civil society organizations by preparing and recruiting Latinos for nonprofit board leadership; helping nonprofit organizations to develop governing boards that reflect their constituents; and, collaborating with partners to increase ethnic diversity in nonprofit governance.
