PARTNERSHIP WILL SPUR LATINO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES
\”Nonprofit Leadership Seen as Path to Networking, Business Growth\”
Los Angeles – Latinos LEAD (Latinos for Leadership Excellence and Diversity) and the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (CHCC) announced a strategic partnership designed to connect Latino professionals with nonprofit leadership opportunities.
The partnership highlights several shared goals for both organizations: Promoting Latino leadership and generating more significant market opportunities for Latinos and Latino-owned businesses.
Nonprofit governing board service can lead to professional development and new business growth, according to Julian Canete, President & CEO of the California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce. \”Serving on a nonprofit board offers excellent opportunities for Chamber members. They can build their networks, gain valuable experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets, and expand their business opportunities.\”
Latinos LEAD Founder and Executive Director, Patrick Salazar pointed out the common link between corporate and community leadership. \”From the environment and health care to the arts and education, nonprofit organizations affect every part of our lives and help families in every community. Many Latino business leaders come equipped to help these nonprofit organizations increase their impact,\” Salazar said.
Latino Chamber members can review and apply for nonprofit governing boards opportunities on Latino Online Board Opportunities (LOBO) https://www.latinosleadnow.org/lobo/openings/ This free online service is funded through grants from the Weingart Foundation, the Ford Foundation, and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. Latinos LEAD conducts a preliminary screen of all applicants, forwarding well-qualified candidate profiles to the nonprofit organization for consideration as potential nominees. At this time, LOBO services are offered exclusively to California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and California-based chapters, and national nonprofit organizations\’ affiliates.
